Street Reach is an outreach ministry with the simple goal of entering into genuine, loving relationships with the community surrounding UBC. With a heart for impacting those around us with the love of Christ, it is our desire to passionately serve families in the immediate area. To accomplish this, we feel it is necessary to meet those individuals where they are: their own homes.
Each Street Reach team is assigned a street in the surrounding neighborhood. Twice a month, the group goes around to each house on the block and slowly builds relationships with the residents through casual conversations, simple acts of service, and prayer. Over time, those relationships flourish, as each group becomes a part of the community’s fabric of life.
Through these consistent encounters, the love of God and the good news of Christ are shared through incarnational ministry: we become the love of Jesus to the community. This attitude is expressed by Paul to the church in Thessalonica, to which he writes, “So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God, but also our very lives, because you have become very dear to us.” – 1 Thessalonians 2:8
